Veterans Field of Valor®
The Field of Valor®, dedicated by U.S. Brigadier General Jeffrey W. Foley and VFW Post 1419 of Hamburg, NY on May 29, 2010, is an area that allows for distinguished burial for veterans and spouses.
Lakeside is one of just three local cemeteries where veterans’ graves can be marked with unique upright white marble memorials, which are provided by the government at no charge. These white marble monuments are featured in uniform rows across Lakeside’s grassy meadows, creating a Field of Valor® not unlike the veterans’ memorials of Arlington National Cemetery near our nation’s capital. Each marker may include a symbol of faith or military service, full name, birth and death dates, branch of service and conflict title. The Field of Valor® accommodates both casketed and cremated burials. Prominently located near our main Camp Road entrance, the Field of Valor® is the site for the annual Hamburg Township VFW Post 1419 Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
Spouses may also choose to be buried in the Field of Valor®, either in side-by-side lots or in the same grave (as long as one or both are a cremated body interment). The spouse’s burial can be marked in a number of ways, depending on your specific preferences.
Above-ground burial is also available in our Field of Valor®.
